Northwest Fine Woodworking proudly presents a new exhibition, “Chair; The Fine Art of Seating.” The exhibition will highlight new and classic chairs by fifteen furniture artisans from the Northwest.
The chair is one of the most challenging forms for a woodworker to design and build. Not only must a chair be structurally sound, it must also invite use and create comfort. Each chair in this exhibition demonstrates the utmost of skill and innovation, showcases the creative diversity of local wood furniture makers, as well as emphasizes the natural beauty of the material. Each furniture builder designs and executes his or her own chair from start to finish in the shop, meticulously laboring over each step of the process; the result yields a unique piece of studio furniture lasting many years to come.
This exhibit featured many new designs by our gallery members and guests, including a rare rocking chair by renown furniture artist Ken Richards.
