Description:
In Japan during the 1800's they did not have built-in storage in the home but rather movable chest, and they took advantage of every possible space available in the home. This piece can easily be used as a room divider. Both sides are 'fronts' or show faces as the door and drawers open in both directions.
Made from highly figured Oregon Black walnut with drawer sides made from Eastern hard maple. The door fronts are re-sawn and book matched. The pulls are hand forged black iron made in a tiny village in the Mie prefecture in Central Japan .
