Northwest Fine Woodworking first opened a little storefront, in Seattle’s historic Pioneer Square, in June 1980. It was founded by a small group of members, within the NW Guild of Fine Woodworking, who wanted to create a community venue for the sale and display of superior handcrafted woodwork.
In the early years each member put in their own time managing and renovating the gallery. But, those modest beginnings have now grown to include over 29 members and 200 nonmembers, as well as a full team of knowledgeable salespeople. In 1996 the gallery was able to expand to a new location on First and Jackson Street. The new location is much larger than the original gallery, but maintains the same spirit and high standards established by those first members.
